It’s Youth Work Week, and we at Sports Alive think that’s something to celebrate. It’s an opportunity to recognise the work our staff does every day to help young people, create opportunities, and be present when it really counts.
Youth work is all about connection. It’s about listening, being involved, and assisting young people in finding their feet. Some days it’s sports activities, and other days it’s a conversation about anything on their mind. There is no secret; it is simply about being present, caring, and providing a space for young people to feel noticed and supported.
Our team does this across North Liverpool and beyond, running youth sessions in centres, parks, and community spaces. From football and team games to creative projects and one-to-one support, everything we do is about helping young people build confidence, make friends, and learn to back themselves.
Youth Work Week is also a good reminder of how important this kind of support is. Life for young people can be full-on, school, social media, pressure from all sides, so having somewhere they can just relax, talk, and be themselves makes a big difference. Sometimes, all it takes is one conversation or one positive experience to change how someone sees themselves.
We’re proud of our team and the difference they make. Their commitment, patience, and genuine care are what keep this work going, and we see the impact every week in the faces of the young people who walk through our doors, or up to us in the park.
So, during Youth Work Week, we want to thank our staff, volunteers, and everyone who supports what we do. You are the reason young people can belong, progress, and believe in themselves.
