Earlier this month was World Mental Health Day, a reminder that looking after our minds is just as important as looking after our bodies, especially for young people growing up in today’s world.
At Sports Alive, we see it every day, being active isn’t just for keeping fit, it can make a real difference to mental health. For loads of the young people we work with, it’s about feeling good, building confidence and being part of something.
Getting involved in our sessions gives young people a place to switch off from the stresses of life, burn off energy and just have fun. Whether it’s playing football, taking part in group games or chatting with our youth workers, it’s all part of building positive routines that support mental health.
Being active isn’t just great for your body… it helps clear your head too. It can ease worries, lift your mood, and help you focus. But honestly, one of the best bits is the sense of belonging. When young people feel supported and part of something good, their confidence really starts to shine.
We’re proud to create those safe spaces, where young people can move, talk, laugh and just be themselves because mental health matters and taking care of it starts with small steps (and sometimes a good kickabout).
