How Sports Alive Is Empowering Young People

At Sports Alive, we’re all about giving young people the space, support and encouragement to thrive and we’re proud to be doing just that across communities in the North West.

We know that sometimes all it takes is a safe place to hang out, a friendly face and the chance to try something new to spark confidence and connection. That’s where our centre based sessions come in.

You’ll find us running open access sessions every week in Everton, Fazakerley, Kirkby and Tuebrook, with a whole mix of activities that are designed to be fun, inclusive and packed with opportunities to grow. Whether it’s getting stuck into dodgeball or boxing, learning to cook something new, picking up a camera for the first time or just having a chat over a board game, there’s something for everyone.

And it’s not just about what we do, it’s about why we do it.

Building Confidence and Life Skills

Every session is a chance for young people to gain confidence, learn how to work as a team and discover what they’re good at. We split our sessions into age groups (7 to 11s, 12 to 14s and 15 plus) so everyone gets something suited to them. It’s all about creating the right environment to grow, whether you’re an energetic 8 year old trying dodgeball for the first time or a 16 year old exploring photography or music.

Keeping Things Fresh

We also run themed half term programmes throughout the year where we mix things up with different activities, guests and community sessions. Think inflatables, outdoor games, water based activities and loads of creative workshops. These weeks give young people something to look forward to and families some well earned support too.

It’s More Than Just Sports

While sports are at the heart of what we do, it’s really about giving young people a sense of belonging. We believe that when young people feel safe, seen and supported, amazing things happen. They’re more likely to try new things, make new friends and build resilience that carries through every part of their life.

We’re Just Getting Started

We’ve already seen hundreds of young people walk through our doors and come out stronger, happier and more connected. And we’ve got big plans to reach even more. Thanks to funding from supporters like the Benefact Group and ongoing partnerships with local organisations, we’re growing all the time.

So whether you’re a parent, a young person, a local partner or just someone who cares about your community, know that you’re always welcome to get involved.

Because at Sports Alive, it’s not just about sport. It’s about belonging, building confidence and helping young people feel like they matter.
