At the start of December was National Charity Week. A great time to highlight the amazing support we receive and to shine a light on the different ways people can help us continue our work with young people across Liverpool.
For us at Sports Alive, it’s all about community. Everything we do, from evening youth sessions to outreach work, sports activities, creative sessions and mentoring is made possible because people choose to back us.
So this week was the perfect opportunity to celebrate that support and share how others can get involved.
Supporting Us Through Co-op
One of the biggest ways people can back us right now is by choosing us as their local cause through the Co-op Local Community Fund.
Co-op members can help us receive a share of £5 million simply by shopping for everyday essentials. Once we’re selected as your chosen cause, every time you buy Co-op branded products, a small amount comes straight back into our work with young people.
You’ll find us in the following Co-op stores:
– Fazakerley – Copplehouse Lane
– West Derby – Darley Drive
– R McDougall (West Derby)
– Liverpool Walton Vale
– Liverpool Ambrose Grove
It’s such a simple way to support the development, wellbeing and confidence of young people in our community.
Voting for Us in Tesco
Another brilliant way people can help is by voting for Sports Alive through the Tesco Community Grants scheme.
We’re currently included in three Tesco Express stores:
– Two stores in Fazakerley
– One store in Kirkby
Every time you shop, you can drop a blue token in for us.
Those tokens help us continue:
– Providing safe spaces for young people
– Running sports sessions and creative activities
– Supporting local children through outreach
– Offering a positive presence in our communities
These tokens genuinely add up and have a real impact on the ground.
Fundraising in Your Own Way
We also used National Charity Week as a reminder that anyone can start a fundraiser for Sports Alive and it doesn’t need to be big or complicated.
Bake sales, sponsored walks, sponsored sports challenges, office collections, community events… they all help.
Fundraising gives people the chance to support us in a way that feels personal and meaningful and every pound raised goes directly into creating opportunities and safe environments for local young people.
If anyone ever wants to fundraise but doesn’t know where to start, we’re always here to help with ideas, resources and support.
Raising Donations Through EasyFundraising
Another easy option is EasyFundraising, a brilliant platform where your favourite online retailers donate to us every time you shop. It costs supporters nothing extra, but helps us massively.
All you need to do is:
– Download the EasyFundraising app
– Choose Sports Alive North West as your cause
– Shop as normal
Retailers donate on your behalf, helping us keep youth sessions running and giving young people positive opportunities to thrive.
A Big Thank You to Our Community
National Charity Week reminded us just how much community support powers everything we do.
Whether you vote for us in Tesco, choose us in Co-op, shop via EasyFundraising or take on your own fundraising challenge, you’re making a real difference to young people across Liverpool.
Your support helps us:
– Create safe places for young people to spend their evenings
– Run sports, creativity and wellbeing programmes
– Support young people through challenges
– Build confidence, friendships, resilience and positive futures
We’re so grateful to everyone who backs us.
Together, we’re building stronger, safer and more connected communities for the next generation.
