It’s brilliant seeing our community come together, and that’s exactly what happened at our Picnic in the Park. The sun was shining, and it was brilliant to see so many people join us for a day full of fun, laughter, games and food.
The park was packed with things to see and do. Families made the most of the bouncy castles, little ones loved the small train rides, and our stalls gave people a chance to browse, chat, and learn more about local services. We even had CPR learning sessions running on the day, giving people the chance to pick up lifesaving skills in a relaxed, friendly setting. Our amazing DJ Ste Chadwick from 0151 Entertainments kept the energy high with music and entertainment, and concluded the day with a fashion show created by and for the young people!
Events like this are a reminder that community isn’t just about where we live, it’s about the people and the friends we make. The young people making new friends on the bouncy castles, parents chatting over a coffee, the day was an absolute success and all about coming together.
We were also proud to be joined by Chief Inspector Steve Robinson from Merseyside Police and the City Wide Road Safety Campaign Team. They were there raising awareness about road safety, and thanks to their generous support, the Liverpool Rapid Relief Team were able to provide 1,000 free meals throughout the day. That generosity and collaboration meant everyone could relax, enjoy themselves, and feel part of something really special.
We were also able to run a Community Consultation on the day asking attendees for their thoughts on the day but also on some of our plans for the future. This kind of feedback is incredibly important for us ensure we have local support for our plans but also because it helps us show funders the many and varied ways we are using their generous funding to support our communities. At Sports Alive, this is what we love doing, creating spaces where people can connect, feel included, and leave with a better piece of mind about their own community. The Picnic in the Park showed just how powerful that can be, and it’s left us even more excited for what’s next.
