Recently our team spent some time up on the Aintree Loopline to support the community after the tragic loss of Ellis Cox. We wanted to be there, show our support and create a space for people to come together.
Our goal was simple: listen, raise awareness and think about how we can make the Loopline safer for young people. During the day, we handed out leaflets and spoke with local families who use the Loopline regularly. Many shared their worries, experiences and ideas for how kids and young people can move around safely, play and just enjoy the area without fear.
This tragedy is a painful reminder that no family should ever have to go through something like this and no young person should feel unsafe in their own community. At Sports Alive, we’ve always focused on building safer, healthier, and stronger communities, and being on the Loopline was an important way to show that in action.
We’ll keep supporting any efforts that protect young people and bring the community together. Change starts with all of us working together.
