Sports Alive Northwest Charity is celebrating after receiving almost £250,000 of National Lottery funding to provide youth provision and support for local children.
The charity, based in Adlam Park, Fazakerley, will use the money to run more activities for local children and to provide further support sessions through their new young person’s social prescribing role.
Sports Alive has been running since 2010 and was founded by CEO Ryan Manville after he realised that the local community was struggling to provide free sports and youth and play opportunities for young people.
The Charity now runs five days a week, across Liverpool and Knowsley, providing and encouraging young people aged 8+ to join in with activities such as arts & crafts, sports, trips and playing games. The sessions help the children to make friends, while learning new skills and having fun, as well as promoting positive behaviour and activities away from the streets.
“While enjoyable, the children are also gaining greater confidence, self-belief, and important collaboration skills”.
The new funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, which distributes money raised by National Lottery players for good causes and is the largest community funder in the UK, will see these sessions continue and create an added security over the next 3 years.

The National Lottery Community Fund recently launched its new strategy, ‘It starts with community’, which will underpin its efforts to distribute at least £4 billion of National Lottery funding by 2030.
As part of this, the funder has four key missions, which are to support communities to come together, be environmentally sustainable, help children and young people thrive and enable people to live healthier lives.
National Lottery players raise over £30 million a week for good causes across the UK. Thanks to them, last year The National Lottery Community Fund was able to distribute over half a billion pounds (£615.4 million) of life-changing funding to communities.
